TSTO

The Finnish Cultural Institute in New York organizes residency programs, exhibitions and various events in the fields of contemporary art, design and architecture.

Our approach for the identity started with the dualistic role of the institute. The institution works as a purely structural backbone, but it can also take very elaborate forms through its projects. Thus the institution has two voices, one quite dry and another more expressive. With this idea in mind, we approached the type foundry Schick-Toikka who delivered a custom typeface with two cuts representing the two voices.
